Burgos Holy Week Launches a Campaign for Public Support for Its Declaration as a Festival of International Tourist Interest
The Burgos Holy Week Board, in collaboration with Burgos City Council, has launched a campaign to gather support for Burgos Holy Week’s application to be declared a Festival of International Tourist Interest.
The initiative was presented by the President of the Burgos Holy Week Board, José Juan Jiménez, together with the Mayor of Burgos, Cristina Ayala, and the Councillor for Celebrations, César Barriada, who called on the whole of Burgos society to take part in the campaign.
The aim is to gather as much support as possible from citizens, businesses, associations, institutions and organisations of all kinds, demonstrating the broad social backing for a candidacy that seeks to obtain the highest tourism recognition for one of the city’s most important cultural, religious and heritage events.
A recognition with significant benefits for Burgos
Being declared a Festival of International Tourist Interest would provide a major boost to the national and international profile of Burgos Holy Week and the city itself, strengthening its ability to attract visitors and helping to generate economic activity in sectors such as accommodation, retail, restaurants and other services.
This recognition would also increase the visibility of a heritage tradition that brings together history, art, faith and public participation, further establishing Burgos as a destination for cultural and religious tourism.
Open to everyone
The campaign is open to individuals, businesses, associations, organisations and institutions. The process is very simple and can be completed directly through the Burgos Holy Week Board’s official website.
After completing the form, each participant will also receive a certificate confirming their support for the application.
The Burgos Holy Week Board and Burgos City Council intend to keep the campaign open until the third week of October, with the aim of mobilising broad support throughout Burgos society during this period.
The Burgos Holy Week Board encourages everyone in Burgos, as well as organisations and businesses with links to the city, to support the application and help spread the word about the campaign.
Every endorsement counts. Together, we can help Burgos Holy Week achieve recognition as a Festival of International Tourist Interest.
