Devotion in gesture: kissing of hands and feet ceremonies in parishes across Burgos

The Holy Week of Burgos will witness one of its most deeply rooted expressions of devotion on 14 and 15 March, with the celebration of several kissing of hands and kissing of feet ceremonies in different parishes throughout the city.

These acts of veneration allow the faithful to approach in a personal way the devotional images of the confraternities and brotherhoods. They will take place in various churches over the course of the weekend, making it possible for many residents of Burgos to participate in this traditional gesture of reverence.

The organizers remind attendees that the kissing of feet will not take place during the celebration of the Eucharist, and therefore participants are advised to pay attention to the established schedules.

These ceremonies form part of the spiritual preparation for Holy Week and offer an opportunity to experience closely the devotion and religious heritage that characterize the Holy Week of Burgos.
